Winner
Modulus Matrix, Peris+Toral Arquitectes
The ECCA Award 2025 was unanimously awarded to Modulus Matrix, designed by Peris+Toral Arquitectes and
completed in Spain in the early 2020s. Presented by Marcello Ranieri, President of ECCA, the award recognised
a project that stood out for its architectural clarity and its highly relevant use of pre-painted metal as an integral
component of the building envelope. By focusing on essential design principles, the architects achieved a
precise balance between technical performance and aesthetic expression, demonstrating how pre-painted steel
can be both purposeful and expressive within contemporary architecture.
Honourable Mentions:
Bel & Main (DMAA)
Bel & Main, designed by DMAA – Delugan Meissl Associated Architects - and completed in Vienna in the early 2020s, is a residential project where the use of prepainted metal contributes to a clear and consistent architectural language, supporting both the building’s expression and its functional requirements.
Mirror Pod Extension (Mart Barrass Architect)
This small-scale intervention was completed in recent years, which stood out for its originality and experimental character. Despite its singular form, the project demonstrates a thoughtful and controlled use of prepainted metal, reinforcing the dialogue between material, context and design intent.
